Damn It !!

There are days when everything else seems so inconsequential .....
When every effort I make to entertain myself seems so futile .....
When no amount of shopping , or movies or girls gossip seems to fill the void that I feel ...
When all I want is to share my everyday life with you ...

This is for you my sweetheart !!

Do you remember this ? :)

do pal is raah me chal kar musafir khote hain rasta......
kahin paani kahin dhoop, par satati hai teri yaad hamesha
aaj paane ko kar raha hai dil wo lamha.
bhoole hain jinhe hum ahista ahista
kyun hai ye doori jab hai tu itne paas.
samajhta nahi dil, ho jaata hai udaas.
hai udasi bhi ye ek alag si......
khamoshi chhayi rehti hai jab tum hoti ho saamne.
fir bhi hamesha tere saath ki hi rehti hai aas ..

And do you remember what was my reply :)

Angels or Demons ...

I have witnessed too vehement a discussion about one of the topics I feel very deeply about. And I cannot stop myself from giving my two cents. A topic like this is never simple, with too many layers attached to it, too many interwoven fabrics. But beneath all these layers, the reason that lies there is extremely simple - as simple as black and white.

Lets not even go between the discussion of supremacy between science or religion. Lets start with the basic questions raised. About the massacre that happen in the name of religion. yes I agree, a lot of them. But only "in the name". The basic motive of each and every war or massacre that has happened in past has been power. As simple as that. Whether it was the "religious" war of India Pak division, or whether it was the "non religious" Iraq war or whether it is the on going Jihaad of militancy. Power has been the reason behind all of them. All these wars have been insinuated by a leader - a leader who was motivated by the desire of power, and each has used the weapon that the public under it believed the most into.

So, yes, the solution remains simple. Lets stop the public from believing into anything. Lets abolish the religion. But then what will happen? You will abolish religion today. And then what? As human beings they will cling to something. US today, has perhaps abolished its belief in religion, and has clung to its belief in the nation (Forgive me if i am wrong, for my perception about the country comes from what I see in the movies and read in the books). A belief which has been exploited again and again to cause human suffering. To the extent that one of the person who decided to drop a bomb on hiroshima did not regret his decision till about 5 years back from now ( I do not know if he does regret now, its just that I read this news then ) . So, just removing religion is not going to help the cause of mankind.

I believe man's greatest folly remains in its belief about its supremacy. And the biggest virtue that religion has given humankind is to teach it humility. To teach it fear. Its not a very good thing to advocate fear. Bfor a species like humans, which has a very very strong dark side going in it, the fibre of religion, the fibre of society is very essential to keep a tab on its dark side. And somehow I think that this was the thought behind which religion was made, but which unfortunately it was changed by the hands of few powerful people. Anyways, I dont think that removing the religion will destroy the world. I think in developed countries, or in the life of people like us , religion is more or less just a background. Which decides your choice of the festival you celebrate, or the kind of mariage ceremony you hold. But then that is the level of understanding, that is the level of maturity and that is the level of comfort you need to reach in life in order to abolish religion, which perhaps a lot of the world is not. If you take away religion from the part of the world where there is no education, no money, no comfort, you will leave them unsolicited. To have nothing to cling to and to only get bitter about the unjustness of life . Or else perhaps they will go the animal way, and lose a semblance of society.

Now I will bring a third angle in perspective. Have you ever wondered that why is it that most of the militancy is from the poorest countries. Its just that there is more room for hatred in the heart of a person whose stomach is the most empty. And also, that for a person who has nothing, it promises something. If a person could not have a good enough life on earth, he is promised a good afterlife. Sometiems, it does not have to go to afterlife. Just a wad of note and a promise that "his family will be taken care of " is enough to plunge him in the sacrifice of his life. Its not easy to believe in science, in humanity and in rationality when the person has been going through misery all his life. Yes religion acts as a stimulant here , as it gives him an easy hope. A hope that his life is worth something. its worth of the cause. And a hope that if not life then after life would be.

And I will agree to avantika. It has always been the man's folly. The pretext will differ everytime, but the killings will go on - whether religion or no religion. What human beings need right now, is not the abolishmesnt of anything, but the introduction of morals. The re-infusion of tolerance, non-selfishness, gentility and generosity towards its fellow human beings. Yes, you can point at the non-believer side of the scriptures, but I still think that religion was just a way to teach people a way of life. Everytime. And just as humans do , we deformed it for our own benefits.

There was a book I was reading once, which unfortunately I never got a chance to complete. The book had tried to explain the scriptures of Islam. And it explained how Islam had taken birth in a situation of anarchy. At a time when civil and tribal wars were at its peak. Then a man raped or married any woman he wanted. It was not uncommon for a man to take 10-15 woman. When Islam grew, it prohibited a man to marry more than three women. It was its way of making the society better. Of restricting the man from going on rampages and on bringing the concept of family. But in today's society it is so out of place. But that is because the followers took the religion by their word and not be its meaning.

Anyways, before ending, there is an answer that I have to give to the person that I am getting married to. You have often asked me that why am I marrying you. Because as per you, you do not deserve me. And my answer to that is because you are the kind of person which is needed to bring a piece of sanity in this world. It is too strong a statement to say. But when I was writing what is needed in this world right now, I felt that I was writing your virtues. I have yet to see you talk harshly to a person who is less powerful than you. To see you putting selfishness before what is right. To see you from saying no to a person who needs help. Yes you have many negatives too when it comes to practical life. But then it is for these reasons that I am marrying you. ( Well , not only for these reasons .. :P ) Because with you, my fading faith in humanity gets a bit of rescue. And for that I will always respect you. Even if i someday get infuriated at the absence of practicalities in you and decide to divorce you :P . Now this is the last time I am saying it. And for the rest fo your life, if you ever have a doubt, you can visit this blog and read it here. :)

P.S: The post has perhaps become too digressive. I do not know whether my point came across. But I hope that atleast it did not totally fail from its mark.
